Abstract This Regional Law regulates relations in the sphere of protection and conservation of aquatic biological resources, including mammals, invertebrates, freshwater fishes and algae living in state of natural freedom. All aquatic biological resources in ponds and quarries filled with water pertaining to the regional property shall be considered regional ownership. The following types of managements of aquatic biological resources shall be authorized: (a) industrial fisheries; (b) fisheries for research and control purposes; (c) aquaculture and acclimatization of alien species; (d) stock enhancement and repopulation; and (e) artisanal and sport fishing. Distribution of annual fishing quotas shall be performed in accordance with transparency and openness principles.
