Abstract The main fields of regional environmental protection shall be: (a) regional environmental lawmaking; (b) reduction of environmental risks and negative environmental impact; (c) conservation of all forms of biological diversity; (d) introduction of ecofriendly processes and technologies; (e) reduction of waste formation and promotion of waste recycling; (f) setting up protected areas; and (g) formation of ecological culture and education (art. 7). Economic stimulation of environmental protection activities shall be carried out through: (a) tax reduction, preferential taxation and credits to economic entities; (b) public subsidies; and (c) support of environmental research (art. 9). State environmental audit shall be carried out by the regional executive body competent in the sphere of environmental protection (art. 14).
