Abstract This Regional Law establishes the modalities of provision with complete additional nutrition on preferential terms or free of charge of pregnant women, nursing mothers and children under three years of age. Expenditure for supply of the aforesaid nutrition and infant food shall be covered by the regional budget. Basic principles of ensuring nutrition shall be as follows: (a) accessibility, safety and efficiency; (b) primary responsibility of the family for healthcare of pregnant women, nursing mothers and children as regards organization of nutrition thereof; and (c) liability of legal persons and public officials responsible for provision of nutrition. Distribution of nutrition free of charge and infant food shall be performed through the network of special nutritional points and, in case of absence thereof, nutrition shall be substituted with monetary payments of compensation.
