Abstract This Regional Law establishes organizational and legal grounds for ecological monitoring and regulates relations in this sphere. Ecological monitoring shall be applicable to the state of environment, atmospheric air, land, soil, waterbodies, forests and green vegetation, fauna and flora, and natural processes, including climate. Ecological monitoring shall be performed by the Regional Government, authorized state institutions and also by citizens and public associations carrying out voluntary ecological monitoring. Ecological monitoring shall be integral part of the national (federal) ecological monitoring and shall be performed in accordance with regional programmes regulating distribution and location of ecological monitoring network, periodicity of measurements and methods of analysis and processing of collected information and data related to the state of environment.
