Abstract This Regional Law regulates relations in the sphere of conservation and protection of wild fauna, natural habitats thereof, so as to ensure conservation and reproduction of biological diversity, creation of conditions for sustainable existence of wild fauna and conservation of genetic resources of wild fauna species. Wild fauna species shall be subject to compulsory state registration and data related thereto shall be inserted in state register of wild fauna species (art. 9). Rare, protected and endangered wild fauna species shall be recorded in the regional Red Book. Activities that can cause reduction of the aforesaid species shall be prohibited. Destruction of rare, protected and endangered wild fauna species, habitats thereof, hunting, capture, captive breeding, purchase and trade, sale thereof o derivates thereof without authorization or in violation of the terms and conditions established in the issued authorization, shall be prohibited (art. 13). Natural and legal persons are authorized to carry out the following types of wild fauna management: (a) hunting; (b) fisheries; (c) use of beneficial properties of vital activity of wild fauna species – soil formers, pollinators, filter-feeding animals etc.; (d) research and education; and (e) obtaining of the products of vital activity of wild fauna species (art. 15).
