Abstract

This law pursues the following purposes: a) promote the protection and dissemination of native and indigenous forest species of the regional territory; b) to safeguard and protect the plant biodiversity and the forest genetic heritage, with particular reference to the ecotypes, of the regional territory; c) improve and control the genetic quality of the propagating material used for forestry purposes; d) favor the production of quality forest plants to achieve the objectives set by the regional agri-environmental policies. This Law applies to the species listed under Annex 1 of Legislative Decree No. 386/2003. Art. 4,5 and 6 require anyone that intends to produce, store or trade forest plants and their reproductive materials to hold a permit, keep a register and hold a traceability certificate. Art. 7 establishes the regional register of basic forest materials. Monitoring and sanctions provisions are contained in art. 9 and 10.
