The reserve was formed with the view of preserving and reproducing rare and valuable wild fauna species. The reserve is a nesting and resting place for birds on the way of their migration. The fauna is typical for the steppe zone of the region, including: (a) mammals: wild boar, fox, badger, hare; and (b) birds: gray partridge, wild pigeons, quail. The following activities shall be prohibited on the territory of the reserve: (a) plowing of land; (b) grazing livestock; (c) haymaking; (d) sports and recreational fishing; (e) hunting and capture of game; (f) allotment of land plots for building, gardening and horticulture; (g) geological exploration and development (mining) of widespread minerals; (h) use of pesticides and fertilizers, plant protection chemicals and growth stimulants; (i) blasting operations; (j) transit and parking of vehicles off public roads; (k) arrangement of rest halts, bivouacs, tourist sites and camps, other forms of recreation for the population; and (l) any other forms of economic activity, recreational and other nature management that impede the preservation, restoration and reproduction of natural complexes and their components.
