The reserve performs the functions of preserving and reproducing the reference variant of the vegetation of the steppe semi-desert. Within 100 sq. m, there are 35 species of vascular plants. The following activities shall be prohibited on the territory of the reserve: (a) plowing of land; (b) grazing and transit of livestock; (c) digging up plants, collecting flowers, fruits and berries; (d) construction of buildings, structures, roads, pipelines, power lines and other communications; (e) planting of alien species; (f) reclamation work; (g) the use of pesticides, mineral fertilizers, plant protection chemicals and growth stimulants; (h) mining and exploration work; (i) movement and parking of all types of transport means; (j) unorganized recreation of the population, arrangement of rest halts, bivouacs and tourist camps; (k) systematic continuous mowing and burning of grass stand; and (l) hunting. The following types of economic activities shall be limited: (a) excursions and other forms of recreation; and (b) haymaking (mowing shall be carried out with leaving stripes-crests).
