Abstract

Natural park named after S.N. Perekalsky is a protected natural territory of regional significance constituted with a view of conservation of cultural and historical heritage located in the central part of the city of Kursk and performing an important ecological and aesthetic function in conditions of intense anthropogenic load. Natural objects are represented by tree and shrub plantations and flower beds, evenly distributed throughout the park. The territory of the natural park, founded more than a hundred years ago, is a well-maintained landscaped space. The natural park has cultural, historical, ecological, aesthetic and recreational significance. The ecological role of tree and shrub vegetation of the natural park is manifested in the environment-forming functions, which include protective, stabilizing and forming environment. In addition, on one of the flower beds grows a hybrid variety of peony tenuifolious, introduced in the natural park. The territory of the natural park is of great recreational importance. It is a place for daily walks of the local population and meetings of students.
