Abstract

Regional state nature reserve “Kayta” shall be constituted for conservation and recovery of natural complexes and maintenance of ecological balance of Kanda, Ena and Vatsimanjioki river basins. Regional state nature reserve “Kayta” shall perform the following functions: (a) conservation of ecosystems, natural landscapes and natural complexes (including wetlands); (b) conservation of rare and endangered mushrooms, plants and animals, and genetic resources of the aforesaid species; (c) conservation and reproduction of biological diversity; and (d) conservation of high aesthetic and recreational values for promotion of ecological and scientific tourism. The following activities shall be prohibited: (a) timber extraction and harvesting of non-timber forest products; (b) exploration and mining; (c) ploughing up; (d) use and storage of pesticides and other toxic chemicals; (e) waste disposal and littering of the territory; (f) removal of objects of cultural heritage; and (g) introduction and release of alien species.
