Country/Territory Russian Federation Territorial subdivision Altai Document type Regulation Date 2003 (2007) Source FAO, FAOLEX Subject Environment gen., Wild species & ecosystems Keyword Protected area Management/conservation Wild flora Geographical area Arctic, Asia and the Pacific, Black Sea, Caspian Sea, CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), Eastern Europe, Europe, Europe and Central Asia, North Pacific, North-West Pacific Abstract The following activities shall be prohibited on the territory of the regional reserves: (a) plowing of land; (b) cattle grazing in water protection zones; (c) carrying out irrigation and drainage works; (d) construction of dams and ponds without the consent of the administration of the reserve and environmental audit; (e) haymaking in May, June, and also round (from the periphery to the center); (f) felling of forests not envisaged by forest management plan; (g) blasting operations; (h) hunting for all types of animals and other types of use of wild fauna with the exception of those specified in subparagraphs 1), 2), 3) of paragraph 2 of this provision; (i) all types of fishing, except for those specified in subparagraph 4) of paragraph 2 of this provision; (j) launching fires and burning vegetation; (k) passage of motor vehicles off public roads, with the exception of those specified in subparagraph 5) of paragraph 2 of this provision; (l) placement of warehouses of pesticides, fuels and lubricants, storage of production and consumption waste; (m) stay of persons with weapons, fishing gear and dogs, with the exception of state inspection service; and (n) procurement of medicinal plants. The following activities shall be authorized on the territory of the regional reserves: (a) the use of biological means of combating insects - plant pests by agreement with the regional hunting institution; (b) shooting, trapping of wild animals in the event of an epizootic by authorization of sanitary-epidemiological and veterinary supervision body; (c) shooting, trapping of wild fauna species for scientific research purposes by authorization of the regional hunting institution; (d) fishing by authorized fishing methods (hand fishing rod) in authorized periods and within places designated by the administration of the reserve; (e) travel by all types of transport, as well as stay with weapons of authorized officials of state bodies; (f) carrying out security, biotechnical, fire-prevention measures; and (g) the destruction of crows, wolves, stray dogs and stray cats throughout the year in accordance with special permits.
