The main tasks of the reserve shall be as follows: (a) preservation and restoration of the forest-steppe and steppe natural complexes of the Stavropol Upland; (b) preservation of biological diversity, including wild fauna and wild flora species inserted in the national and the regional Red Books, and wild fauna and flora species that are economically and scientifically valuable, and their habitat; (c) preservation and rational use of hunting resources (game); (d) assistance in carrying out research work; and (e) assistance in the development of ecological tourism and environmental education. The following activities shall be prohibited on the territory of the reserve: (a) recreational and port hunting; (b) harvesting of non-timber forest resources, including alimentary resources and medicinal plants, except for collection by citizens for individual personal needs; (c) allotment of land plots for housing construction, gardening and horticulture; (d) exploration and mining; (e) blasting operations; (f) burning of vegetation; (g) domestic and non-domestic waste disposal; (h) destruction or damage of barriers, notices, stands and other information signs; and (i) activities entailing a decrease in the ecological value of the territory of the reserve or causing harm to protected wild fauna and wild flora species, and to their habitat.
