Abstract Zheleznogorsk dendrological park is a protected area of regional significance classified as biological reserve. The tasks of the dendrological park (arboretum) are to create special collections of plants with a view of conservation of biological diversity and enrichment of the flora of the Kursk region, as well as implementation of scientific and educational. The territory of the dendrological park (arboretum) is intended only for the fulfillment of its direct tasks, while any activity not related to the fulfillment of these tasks and entailing a violation of the safety of floristic objects is prohibited. The main tasks of the dendrological park (arboretum) are: (a) research work on the introduction of plants; (b) expansion of the species composition of the arboretum by acquiring seedlings and seed material on a contractual basis; (c) creation of special collections and expositions, experimental plots and nurseries of plants; (d) creation of a seed fund, organization of the exchange of seeds and planting material with specialized institutions from different geographical areas; (e) cooperation with specialized organizations on the study of plant resources and replenishment of the gene pool; (f) organization of environmental education of the population; (g) conducting excursions for educational purposes; (h) development and implementation of landscaping projects; and (i) production and economic activities necessary for the functioning of the dendrological park (arboretum). The following activities shall be prohibited on the territory of the dendrological park (arboretum): (a) exploration works and change in the hydrological regime of the territory; (b) unauthorized felling and/or uprooting of trees, shrubs, seedlings; (c) destruction or damage to trees, seedlings or undergrowth; (d) hunting for birds and wild animals (with the exception of those intended for use in scientific and sanitary purposes), destruction of nests, other habitats of animals; (e) unauthorized collection and procurement of medicinal plants, flowers, fruits, berries, mushrooms, seeds, leaves (except for those intended for scientific use); (f) movement of vehicles outside public roads or specially designated places; (g) washing of vehicles; (h) movement of unauthorized persons without the permission of the park management; (i) allotment of land plots for development, with the exception of the construction of structures in administrative zone; (j) disposal of production and consumption waste; and (k) other types of economic activity, recreational and other nature management, that can have a harmful effect on the plant collection of the dendrological park (arboretum).
