Article 2 gives the definition of nature park and nature reserve. Article 3 provides for the setting up of the Regional Council for the Protection of the Natural Heritage, which shall monitor compliance with laws and regulations in each protected area and shall also be in charge of the adoption of the regional plan on nature parks and reserves, to be drafted in accordance with article 5. As regards nature reserves, these are classified into total, oriented, special and genetic (art. 7) for different particular safeguarding purposes. On the other side, nature parks shall be subdivided into zones A and B as per article 8. Further provisions regard the regulation to be adopted for each protected area, the management of such areas and specific prohibited activities (art. 17).
