Abstract This Regional Act provides for the establishment of a special department, under the President of the Regional Council, which shall be in charge of the implementation of the plan for the eradication of the African swine pest in Sardinia. The department shall consist of the following Regional Counsels: health and hygiene; environmental protection; agriculture and agro-pastoral reform; territorial programming and budget; local entities and finances; industry. Furthermore, a special service for the eradication of this particular animal disease shall be set up under the above-mentioned department. The Region encourages veterinary studies and research so as to contribute to the prevention of the disease (art. 9). Quarantine areas may be defined by the regional administration (art. 10).
