Abstract

With a view to protecting the regional environment and landscape, this Regional Act makes provision on the designation and preservation of monumental trees. Monumental trees are trees of a great natural, historical, cultural or environmental value (art. 2). The Regional Counsel of Agriculture shall keep and update a register of monumental trees (art. 3). All trees listed in the Register shall be considered as protected trees. Felling shall be allowed for public safety or phytosanitary reasons only. The administrative sanctions laid down in article 5 shall be applied in case of infringement.
