Article 2 contains the definition of “biotope”. The overall objectives are (i) biodiversity preservation, (ii) preservation and restoration of habitats of wildlife species of particular interest, (iii) a rational planning of protection and management interventions, (iv) promotion and encouragement of educational initiatives in this sector. Biotopes are to be included in the system of protected areas of the Piemonte Region (art. 3). Article 9 provides for the setting up of a database on biotopes.
