Abstract

This Act has been enacted by the Veneto Region to set up a special agency which shall operate in the environmental protection field. The Regional Agency for the Prevention and the Protection of the Environment in Veneto (ARPAV) hereby established shall perform advisory, technical and scientific functions for the purposes of preserving and, where necessary, restoring the environment, as well as protecting public health. The ARPAV shall be subject to the supervision of the regional authority. Article 3 contains a detailed list of the tasks and duties entrusted to the ARPAV, which shall conduct technical and scientific activities connected with the protection of, on the one hand, the environment as a whole and, on the other hand, the preservation of waters, air (including reduction of noise pollution), soil as well as prevention and management of solid and liquid waste. Article 5 regulates coordination between the ARPAV and local health authorities, whereas article 6 deals with relationship between the ARPAV and the Region, the Provinces, the Communes and Mountain Communities.
