Abstract The Lombardia Region provides for the census of water bodies, establishes the Regional Cadastre of Waters and approves the Regional Plan for the Restoration of Waters, as well as the Regional General Plan of Waters. The Provinces and the inter-municipal Consortia of Lecco and Lodi shall perform surveys concerning the characteristics and quality of waters (art. 2). The Regional Council shall keep the Regional Cadastre of Waters, containing the information referred to in article 4, such as physical, chemical and biological features, the number and types of discharges, sewerage installations, etc. Furthermore, the Regional Council must formulate proposals intended for drawing up the Regional Plan for the Restoration of Waters, to be arranged as per article 9. Further provisions regard the Regional General Plan of Waters (art. 12-bis) and the Regional Coordinating Committee for the Protection of Waters (art. 13).
