Abstract

The Abruzzo Region shall adopt initiatives to ensure the development of apiculture, with a view to improving the agricultural production and safeguarding those environments which are destined to bees. Apiculture is considered as an important factor for improving the quality as well as the quantity of agricultural productions, with special regard to fruit-growing. The Region shall endeavour to develop research and studies in matter of apiculture. Article 2 provides for the establishment of the Regional Commission for Apiculture under the Agricultural Sector of the Regional Council. In accordance with article 3, the Region shall fund the following interventions: (1) purchase of machinery and equipment; (2) breeding of selected queen bees; (3) pollination services; (4) professional training courses; (5) technical assistance for beekeepers; (6) purchase of machinery and equipment intended for the processing, transformation and marketing of apicultural products. Article 7 defines the sanitary functions pertaining to the local health authorities. Beekeepers must inform without any delay the latter in case of detection or suspect of any disease.
