Abstract

The Emila-Romagna Region promotes agricultural products and foodstuffs obtained through techniques compatible with the protection of the environment and of consumers' health. For this purpose, the Region provides for the adoption of a certificating mark to be granted to enterprises complying with disciplinary processing standards. The mark shall be granted to: a) enterprises which produce foodstuffs intended for human consumption; b) enterprises which transform or market foodstuffs intended for human consumption and have signed cultivation/farming and marketing contracts with the above-mentioned enterprises. Enterprises must comply with the disciplinary standards referred to in article 5. Such standards establish requirements to be met at processing stages in order to restrict as much as possible environmental impact and to protect consumers' health. Article 6 regulates inspections to be carried out al all stages of production, transformation, conservation and marketing as well as analysis of samples. Article 7 lays down penalties to be applied in case of infringement.
