Abstract This Regional Act pursues the protection and restoration of forests and forest areas. To this end, the Region shall undertake the initiatives defined under article 2, which cover, inter alia: (a) drafting of the Regional Forestry Plan and of the Regional Forestry Inventory; (b) phitosanitary fight for the protection of forests and forest plants; (c) equipment and infrastructures intended for the prevention of forest fires and fire-fighting activities; (d) creation of enterprises and forest cooperatives for the maintenance of existing forests; (e) restoration of existing forests intended both for timber production and fruit production. Moreover, the Region encourages the production, processing, transformation and marketing of minor fruit products, such as raspberries and redcurrant. Article 9 prohibits the cultural transformation of areas which have been reforested in accordance with the provisions of this Act.
