Abstract

The Emilia-Romagna Region encourages the use of organic material in agricultural activities in order to guarantee the quality of agricultural lands and prevent soil degradation and desertification. For this purpose, the regional authority promotes the creation of a monitoring system intended for the assessment of soil conditions. The Region shall grant subsidies, giving particular priority to the purchase of organic material and related equipment and devices (art. 3). The agricultural enterprises defined by article 4 may participate to this financial scheme. Furthermore, the Region provides for the adoption of a valuation system concerning soil conditions and intended to verify the effects of cultivation practices performed. Surveys and studies shall be carried out through the cooperation of the Regional Agency for Prevention and the Environment (ARPA), as provided for in article 5.
