Abstract

This Regional Act regulates the production, transformation and marketing of organic products and lays down rules on the development of organic farming techniques. It aims in particular at restricting the use of chemical products in agriculture, protecting the environment from pollution and protecting producers' as well as consumers' health. A regional list providing the necessary information on enterprises operating in the organic farming sector shall be elaborated, in accordance with article 3, paragraph 7. Inspections shall be carried out on the enterprises registered. Article 8 concerns labelling requirements. Organic products of extra-regional origin entering into the Lombardia Region shall be accompanied by a certificate issued by the competent authority of the territory of origin. Such products may be used for cattle feeding only upon favourable advice of the local authority. The Regional Committee for Organic Farming (CoRAB) is established by article 14. Article 20 lays down penalties. An Annex, concerning organic farming techniques, is attached.
