Abstract In implementation of Legislative Decree No. 267 of 18 August 2000 on the organization of local entities, the present Regional Act regulates the setting up of Mountain Communities and lays down rules and principles with respect to their functioning. Mountain Communities shall be constituted by joint mountain Communes with a view to ensuring the social and economic development of mountain zones, giving particular regard to less-favoured mountain areas (to be determined as per article 9).
