Country/Territory Document type Regulation Date 2019 Source FAO, FAOLEX Subject Fisheries Keyword Access right Fishery management and conservation Fishing vessel Marine fisheries Enforcement/compliance International organization Data collection/reporting Foreign fishing Bycatch Abstract This Recommendation lays down rules for access agreements of (I) contracting parties and cooperating non-contracting parties that allow foreign-flagged vessels to fish in waters under their jurisdiction for species managed by the GFCM in its area of application and (II) contracting parties and cooperating non-contracting parties whose vessels fish in waters under the jurisdiction of another contracting party and cooperating non-contracting party or non-contracting party for species managed by the GFCM. The parties shall notify the GFCM Secretariat, prior to the beginning of fishing activities, of the existence of such agreement and provide the GFCM Secretariat with information concerning these agreements. The flag contracting parties and cooperating non-contracting parties involved in the agreements shall ensure that all target and incidental catches made pursuant to such agreements are reported. Furthermore, flag and coastal contracting parties and cooperating non-contracting parties involved in the agreements shall provide a summary of the activities carried out pursuant to each agreement, including all catches made pursuant to such agreements, in their annual report to the GFCM.
