Abstract

This Regulation, consisting of 99 sections and completed by nine Schedules, implements the Radiation Safety Act 1999. It contains provisions on radiations sources apparatus and on the disposal of radioactive material into air, water and the sewerage system (Parts 2-4). Part 5 concerns radiation safety and protection plans, Part 6 Security requirements for a security enhanced source, Part 7 radiation safety officers, Part 8 monitoring and Part 9 sets radiation dose limits. Part 10 is on Authorized persons for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. Part 11 sets the banned radiation practices. Part 13 covers registration and disclosure of information, while Part 15 sets the fees payable under the Act. The Regulation is completed by nine Schedules: radionuclide concentrations and activities, security categorisation of a radiation source or an aggregation of radiation sources, disposal of radioactive material, proof of identity documents, qualifications, authorized persons, training, fees and dictionary.
