Abstract

This Notification concerns quality-labelling standards for processed food in Japan. Processed foods are defined as 'foods manufactured or processed' (art. 2). Article 4 covers the method of labelling including names of ingredients and food additives. It consists of 7 articles and 3 tables specifying the said requirements for food placing on the market (including: standards, ingredients, date of production, food additives, weight, etc.). This Notification regulates packaged processed food product destined for human consumption. Detailed information to be displayed on the labels are specified in the text. The attached table specifies a list of detailed food ingredients and additives.
