The Ordinance consists of 5 Parts divided into 38 sections. Sections 4-10 prohibit the sale of certain food, including: mixing and selling mixed food; selling, preparing, manufacturing, importing or exporting unwholesome food; selling or manufacturing for sale food which is adulterated or misbranded; etc. A licence for the manufacture, storage and sale of goods shall be granted by the competent authority as provided for in section 11. Provisions on food poisoning are given in section 13. The Government may appoint Inspectors and Public Analysts for the purposes of this Ordinance, for any specified food or generally for all foods as provided for in Part III. The remaining Parts contain penal provisions and provisions of miscellaneous nature.
