Abstract

This Ordinance consists of 16 sections and 1 Schedule. The Government may prohibit the employment of methods of cultivation that help the spreading of agricultural pests, and the transport or sale of infested crops (sect. 3). Agricultural pest means any pest mentioned in the Schedule. The Government shall appoint Inspectors to enter and inspect any land, building, place, vessel or vehicle, to seize any infested crop, etc. as provided for in sections 5 and 6. Preventive measures shall be carried out by land owners in order to avoid the spreading of pests (sects. 4, 7 and 8). The Government may, by notification, declare the Province or any area affected or threatened by an agricultural pest to be an affected area (sect. 9). Penalty provisions are covered in section 10.
