Entry into force notes
This Act enters into force on the date appointed by the Minister by notice in the Gazette.
Abstract

The purposes of this Act are (I) to promote the public interest by prescribing the principles of good governance, namely accountability, transparency, integrity and value for money in public procurement and (II) to establish procedures for the procurement and the disposal of public property by public entities to achieve the following objectives: (i) maximize economy and efficiency; (ii) promote competition among suppliers, contractors, consultants and service providers and provide for their fair, equal and equitable treatment; (iii) promote the integrity and fairness of such procedures; (iv) increase transparency and accountability in such procedures; (v) increase public confidence in such procedures; and (vi) facilitate the promotion of local industry and economic development. This Act applies to all public procurement by procuring entities within the meaning of this Act and any activities related thereto and each disposal by a public entity of stores and equipment that are unserviceable, obsolete or surplus.
