Abstract

This Act makes provision with respect to underground storage of regulated substances, i.e. hazardous substances as specified by this Act. The purpose of the Act is to establish control and standards for underground storage of substances that may cause contamination of the environment. Each owner of an underground storage tank shall notify the Guam Environmental Protection Agency. The Act applies standards of the United States Environment Protection Agency (EPA) to underground storage of hazardous materials and the Administrator Guam Environmental Protection Agency shall develop and implement a programme that meets the minimum requirements of specified guidelines of EPA. The Act also provides, among other things, for emergency measures and establishes the Underground Storage Tank Management Fund.
