Abstract

These Regulations give further effect to Council Directive 91/676/EEC (the Nitrates Directive) concerning the protection of waters against pollution caused by nitrates from agricultural sources. They require the Department of the Environment and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development establish by Regulations and apply an Action Programme throughout the territory of Northern Ireland. “Action Programme” has the same meaning as in Article 5 of Council Directive 91/676/EEC concerning the protection of waters against pollution caused by nitrates from agricultural sources.
