Abstract

These Regulations prescribe that, under Protection of the Sea (Shipping Levy) Act 198, the Governor General may make regulations for the determination of the rate of levy and the minimum amount of levy. For the purposes of section 6 of the Act, a rate per ton of the tonnage of a ship is prescribed. For the purposes of section 7 of the Act, the minimum amount of levy is prescribed. The rate prescribed by subregulation (1) is applicable to the quarter commencing on 1 July 1995 and all subsequent quarters.
