Section 5A stipulates that when declaring a species to be a protected species under section 5, the Minister shall allocate to that protected species a level of protection as set out in the Schedule. Section 8A allows the Minister to issue a permit on such terms and conditions as (s)he may determine, authorizing the holder of the permit to engage in any activity that would otherwise be prohibited by the Act for the purpose outlined in that section.
