These Regulations shall enter into force upon approval of the MIMRA Board in accordance with the Marshall Islands Marine Resources Act 1997.
Abstract

These Regulations create an avenue for the Protected Areas Network Office to receive and disburse funding to support protected areas established by communities in the Marshall Islands, and also provide the legal framework for the process of nominating areas for protection under the Protected Areas Network Act. These Regulations lay down rules for the governance structure; application processes and criteria for eligibility for nomination of protected areas; types of protected areas; financial management for the sole purpose of sustaining operations of the Protected Areas Network; and offences and penalties for the breach of the Protected Areas Network Act and these regulations.
