Abstract

This Proclamation of the President of the Republic of Mauritius, made under section 7 of the Fisheries and Marine Resources Act 1998, declares the Black River Reserve to be a Marine Protected Area and designates it as a Fishing Reserve to be known as the Black River Fishing Reserve. Section 7(1) allows any area of Mauritius waters including the seabed underlying such waters, any land associated with Mauritius waters or any wetland, to be declared a Marine Protected Area, whereas section 7(2) allows a Marine Protected Area to be designated as a Fishing Reserve, a Marine Park or a Marine Reserve.
