Abstract

These Regulations, comprising 56 articles divided into six Chapters, address a range of topics including general provisions, the national integrated waste management strategy, the duties and responsibilities of involved entities, the prerequisites for conducting integrated waste management operations, and the classification of waste types such as non-hazardous, municipal, construction, agricultural, industrial, and hazardous waste. Additionally, they incorporate provisional measures and provide template forms for license applications, waste registers, and guidelines within the 15 attached Schedules. Chapter three outlines a key policy mandating that waste generators or owners must ensure the secure disposal of waste from their facilities, projects, or operations upon the delivery, initiation, or conclusion of any new, refurbished, or existing projects. This disposal should be completed within a maximum period of twenty days following the project's delivery, start, or the end of the activities that produced the waste, particularly when the waste is located beyond the premises of the specified facilities or projects. Furthermore, these individuals or entities are obligated to comply with the guidelines and stipulations detailed in the appendices accompanying these regulations. The Regulations provide for a grace period of one year for relevant entities to comply with their provisions.
