The functions of a council are: (a) to keep under review, and report to the Minister on, the strategic direction of the relevant primary industry; (b) to inquire into, and report to the Minister on, matters affecting the relevant primary industry which the council thinks require investigation or action; (c) to inquire into, and report to the Minister on, matters affecting the relevant primary industry referred to the council by the Minister; and (d) various other policy supporting functions.
