Abstract

This Law may be cited as the Prevention of Fires in the Rural Areas (Amendment) Act 1999 and shall be read together with the Prevention of fire in the Rural Areas Laws of 1988 and 1991 (hereinafter referred to as the "basic law") and collectively as the fire in the Prevention of Fires in the Rural Areas 1988 to 1999. Article 4 of the basic law is amended by adding the new subsection: (3) the requirements for manufacturing operation of firewood in an area other than the designated special area, in accordance with the provisions of Article 9 of this Law. Article 5 is amended by adding the new subsection and by renumbering the existing article in subsection (1): "A person who perform forest fire in mountains, in violation of the provisions of subsection (3) of section 4 of this Act is guilty of an offense and shall be punished with imprisonment up to two years or a fine not exceeding two thousand pounds or with both. Local authorities within the geographical limits in which is performed charcoal manufacturing, are required within one year from the entry into force of this Law to determine special area in which allowing charcoal manufacturing operations, where do not involve any risk of forest fires, and all the necessary measures to prevent such an eventuality are taken.
