Abstract

This Law may be cited as the Prevention of Fires in the Rural Areas Act 1988. It establishes the requirements to be satisfied in order to light fires in State forests and outside of state forest boundaries, but not including premises used for residence or works. In addition, it prescribes for any case of fire caused by explosion or other which must be controlled by representatives or any fire patrol control, establishing the extension of protection area from the point of forest fire, etc. in order to assist in the work of extinguishing a fire according to instructions given by the local authority and by using water tank, pit or other source of water to extinguish forest fires. The owner of the water or any person who manage water resource is obliged to allow its use for this purpose. Any person called to provide assistance in accordance with subsection is obliged to give assistance for extinguishing fires in accordance with subsection (1). Offences and penalties are prescribed for illegal activities and to pay fines.
