Section 3 defines offences and prescribes penalties for such offences. Section 4 requires “knackers”, i.e. any person whose trade or business it is to kill any horse, mule, ass, bovine, sheep, goat or pig, the meat of which is primarily intended for animals, to comply with Regulations which are applicable to him or her. Section 5 concerns the control of pet shops and other places where animals are kept in captivity for trading purposes. Section 6 prohibits the sale and use of poisoned grain. Other provisions of this Act deal with Court proceedings and measures of enforcement, appointment of inspectors and Regulation making powers of the Minister.
