Abstract This Act, consisting of 36 sections divided into three Parts and completed by two Schedules, aims at preventing cruelty to animals and promoting their welfare. The Act prescribes guidelines and rules for the managing of animals and provides for all related offences. This Act has been amended by the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Amendment Act 2005 to make further provision with respect to the treatment of animals and the powers of officers under that Act.
