Abstract

The President, in order to ensure further promotion of reform of the karakul sheep breeding sector, organization of scientifically based breeding work, procurement of high quality karakul sheep meeting the requirements of the world market, restoring the prestige of Bukhara karakul sheep breed and increasing the export potential thereof, increasing the production of karakul products and organizing efficient use of pastures, decrees to set up a branch of Bukhara Scientific research and production center of karakul sheep breeding and desert ecology and branch of Bukhara scientific and production center of steppe pastoral forage plants. The Branch of Bukhara Scientific Research and Production Center of karakul sheep breeding and desert ecology shall perform the following tasks: (a) systematic organization on a scientific basis of breeding and work on artificial insemination, while paying special attention to the selection of black and grey karakul sheep with valuable, export-oriented, semicircular, ribbed, flat curl types; (b) approbation of scientific developments in the farms of the Bukhara region, specializing in karakul sheep breeding, widespread introduction of its positive results in production; (c) organization of the exchange of thoroughbred rams in color and breed between regions and farms; and (c) study of the experience of foreign countries with a developed karakul sheep breeding sector, including sheep husbandry and selection work, the introduction of advanced achievements in this sphere. The Branch of Bukhara Scientific and Production Center of steppe pastoral forage plants shall perform the following tasks: (a) creation of scientific and applied fundamentals of intensification of animal feed production in steppe areas, the organization of primary seed growing of promising varieties of steppe fodder plants; (b) introduction of advanced agrotechnical measures in areas for cultivation of seeds of steppe fodder crops, provision of these areas with quality seeds and increase in the volume of harvesting of seeds; (c) selection of varieties corresponding to the natural and climatic conditions of pastures, accelerated increase in the harvesting of their seeds; (d) identification and restoration of degraded pastures, organization of planting of steppe forage crops to increase their yield; and (e) delivery of seeds of fodder crops at the request of farms specializing in karakul sheep breeding.
