Abstract This Presidential Regulation, consisting of 31 articles divided into eight Chapters, establishes the Peatland Restoration Agency (BRG). BRG is a testimony to the Indonesian government’s commitment to restore the degraded peatland ecosystems. It establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned agency, entitled to coordinate and facilitate the restoration of peatlands in priority regions, such as: provinces of Riau, South Sumatra, Jambi, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, West Kalimantan and Papua. BRG’s target is to restore the approximately two millions of hectares of degraded peatland within five years period. In particular, this agency is entitled to perform the following activities: strengthening policies on the implementation of peat restoration; planning, control and cooperation in the implementation of peat restoration; mapping of peat hydrological unity; determination of zoning for protection and cultivation purposes; rearrangement of burning peat area management; carrying out supervision in the construction and maintenance of infrastructure on concession lands; etc. Full text Indonesian Website brg.go.id
