Abstract This Order prescribes technical requirements as well as the appropriate manner in which round nets (so-called "kouloura") should be used. The net shall measure five hundred (500) metres length and total height of thirteen (13). Mesh size (measured while the net is still wet) cannot be less than twenty-two (22) millimetres. In the specific case in which round nets are used for migratory species fishing, then the total length of the net may reach the length of six hundred (600) metres and height of thirty (30), while the mesh size shall measure at least forty (40) millimetres. Fishing with this method is allowed only when the nets are placed at least three hundred meters away from the coastline. During the fishing activity with round nets it is prohibited: the use of any luminous source, instigation of sounds, noises etc. other than the one coming out of the vessel's engines.
