Abstract The President, in order to further improve the water management system and operation of water facilities, ensuring efficiency of implementation of irrigation and reclamation projects, implementation of market principles and mechanisms in the field of water management, and also the development of scientific research in this field, decrees to identify the following priority areas and key performance indicators of the guidance of the Ministry of Water Economy of the Republic of Uzbekistan until the end of 2022: (a) ensuring the effectiveness of reforms carried out in the field of water economy, expansion and strengthening of international relations in the field of water resources management; (b) timely and high-quality development of the Concept for the development of water economy in 2020 - 2030; (c) phased implementation, starting from 2020, of coverage mechanisms for water consumers, part of the costs of water management organizations for water supply; (d) gradual reduction of the share of budget funds in the total amount costs of construction, reconstruction and modernization of waterworks by expanding the attraction of foreign investment, loans and grants for the implementation of promising projects in the field of water management; and (e) bringing the share of irrigated land using water-saving technologies, up to at least 10 percent of the total area of irrigated land by actively stimulating agricultural producers to introduce water saving irrigation technologies.
