This Presidential Decree enters into force on the date of its official publication.
Abstract

The President, with a view of further extension of the structural reforms in agriculture, ensuring the priority and the role of private sector in stockbreeding, effective use of pastures, increasing production output and raising competitiveness of animal products, decrees to approve reorganization of karakul farming cooperatives (shirkats) into farms and limited liability companies, as well as cattle-breeding agricultural cooperatives (shirkats) into farms. Karakul breeding enterprise “Uzbek korakuli” shall be subject to the national association “Korakulchilik” that shall perform the following tasks and functions: (a) development of karakul breeding sector, breeding programs, for the purpose of preserving and improving the elite gene pool of the sheep of the Karakul breed; (b) study of supply and demand for karakul production in the world market, marketing research on processing of wool and karakul skins, manufacturing of finished products for export; (c) large-scale attraction of foreign investments and assistance in the introduction of modern resource-saving technologies in the sector; and (d) providing scientific, practical and methodological assistance to increase the productivity of pastures and to establish seed production of pasture plants.
