Abstract This Presidential Decree establishes that the national park “Belovezhskaya pushya” has as its purpose conservation of ecosystems in their natural state, research related to unique forests, biological diversity and landscape diversity, reproduction of disturbed natural complexes of particular ecological, historical and cultural value, and also use of the aforesaid area for environmental protection, scientific research, educational and recreational purposes. The following activities shall be prohibited on the territory of the national park “Belovezhskaya pushya”: (a) drainage and land reclamation; (b) effluent waste water discharge; (c) scientific experiments that may cause alteration of the natural state; (d) organization of tourist camps outside authorized areas; (e) introduction of alien species; (f) haymaking in forest areas; and (g) application of plant protection substances by air-spraying by aircraft.
