Abstract This Presidential Decree, consisting of five Chpaters divided into 27 articles, regulates the Ministry of Rural Development and Food (HDPE). It establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Ministry the mission of which aims at the modernization and development of the country's agricultural sector. In order to achieve its mission, the Ministry promotes the following issues: 1) increase the added value of agricultural and fisheries products and the export of agricultural products; 2) develop and improve the conditions and the business environment of the agricultural sector; 3) improve infrastructure and quality of life in the rural area, encouraging economic diversification and developing rural and agro-tourism; 4) more effective use of the resources of the Common Agricultural Policy (CFP) and the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP); 5) increase the participation of agriculture in the Gross National Product; 6) ensure maximum safety of imported foodstuff in the country; 7) protect the environment and the sustainable management of natural resources used in agricultural and fishery production, etc. Full text Greek Website www.kodiko.gr
